About Salland Festival
Welcome to the site of the International Folkloristic Salland Festival in Raalte, a village in the heart of Salland in de province of Overijssel. Raalte is a village which counts a lot of events, but only one is a really unique folkloristic and cultural Festival, called Salland Festival.

Every year in the third weekend of June Raalte is the centre of international folklore. Groups from all over the world are lodged in Raalte and surroundings to show the audience their special culture. One moment you are wandering in the tropics of Costa Rica, a second later you are amazingly watching stamping boots from Hungary. From the cold of Finland till the wonderful and slim girls from South Korea. A journey throughout the world in only a couple of ours, that is Salland Festival in Raalte.
The festival is proud to be a small festival. Because of this, deep relations exist between groups, their host families and the organisation. Saying goodbye is the worst part of the programme. The Salland Festival is a professional organisation which is a member of the IOV. A world wide organisation in official relation with the UNESCO and deals with aspects of folk art and folk culture. Since 1988 the Festival is awarded with international acknowledgement to be member of C.O.I.F.F.
An international acknowledgement for the excellent organisation and hospitality. The Board of the Festival, several committees, host families and volunteers show unselfish their enthusiasm every year around to hold this reputation.
